The #NotAll Book Tag

Hi everyone! Hope you’re well.

I was (sort-of) tagged by Kat @Life and Other Disasters to do the #NotAll Book Tag, which was originally created by Orang-utan Library. I absolutely love the idea of this tag and am so excited to share my answers to these questions. Please check out both Orangutan Library and Kat’s posts if you haven’t, they have some really good answers.

Let’s do this!

#NOTALL COVER CHANGES – A COVER CHANGE YOU LIKED

Real people on covers…*shudders*. The new cover is much more badass and true to the story. Plus that fire in the background is fierce!

#NOTALL ADAPTATIONS – AN ADAPTATION YOU LOVE MORE THAN THE BOOK

God, I hated this book. But the movies were actually really good. I think the visuals, especially of war, really aided this adaptation.

#NOTALL TROPES – A TROPE YOU’LL NEVER TIRE OF SEEING

Royalty. YA dystopian/fantasy is obsessed with it…and so am I. Maybe this comes with my love for the British royal family but I find the lives of royalty so interesting.

…and many, many more.

#NOTALL INSTALOVE – YOU INSTALOVED THIS INSTACOUPLE

I generally really dislike instalove, but in this case, I will allow it because it had somewhat of an explanation. Even though in later books this love got too angsty…

#NOTALL LOVE TRIANGLES – AN EXAMPLE OF LOVE TRIANGLE DONE WELL

I’m going to copy Kat here…but how could I not say one of my favourite series of all time?! The love triangle is done sooo well in these books, I’m still not over my whiplash from how quickly my mind changed over the love interest.

#NOTALL PARENTS – BOOKISH PARENTS THAT, YOU KNOW, PARENT!

Isn’t it so sad that it took me over 10 minutes to think of an answer to this question. We need more good parents in YA! Even the book I eventually picked doesn’t have the best representation because we only develop a relationship with one, but the mother-daughter bond in Unearthly and the second Hallowed was so touching and beautiful.

#NOTALL VILLAINS – A VILLAIN YOU LOVE

OMG SO MANY THOUGH!! I love a good villain. Probably a super random one is Bellatrix Lestrange, don’t ask me why, but I love her craziness.

And though I hate to double up, Queen Levana from the Lunar Chronicles was a pretty good villain. She was cunning and manipulative, basically everything I want a villain to be.

#NOTALL CHOSEN ONES – A CHOSEN ONE YOU CAN GET BEHIND

I feel like Harry Potter is too much of a basic answer, so I’m going to go with Eragon from the Inheritance Cycle (even though I’ve only read the first three books hehe).

#NOTALL HYPED BOOKS – A BOOK THAT LIVED UP TO THE ACCLAIM

Damn, I guess hyped books often let me down because I really struggled to think of a few answers to this one.

#NOTALL *INSERT FAVOURITE GENRE* – A BOOK YOU’RE NOT KEEN ON FROM YOUR FAVOURITE GENRE

I’d say fantasy is my favourite genre but I HATED Graceling by Kristin Cashore.

#NOTALL *INSERT LEAST FAVOURITE GENRE* – A BOOK YOU LIKED FROM A GENRE YOU DON’T OFTEN READ

My least favourite genre is probably crime or thriller but I loved And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie.

and then there were none

I’m gonna tag:

So that was the #NotAll book tag. What are your answers to some of these questions? Do you agree with my opinions about these books? Let me know!

Thank you so much for reading and I’ll talk to you in my next post!

  1. I dislike real people on covers as well, so the Throne of Glass change was definitely an amazing one! 🙂 I love Bellatrix as well for some reason. I never really knew why I liked her, probably because of her crazy (but who really knows).
Eragon is seriously amazing and definitely a chosen one that I like as well! 😀 So far I have read the first two books and they have both been amazing. I don’t read a lot of crime novels either, but Agatha Christie is one I really enjoy – and I have liked And Then There Were None as well.
Thank you for tagging me!! 😀

    1. Oh my god, you’re one of the only other people I’ve met that liked Bellatrix too! Yay!! We’re a pretty exclusive club.
I’ve read the first three Eragon books but the third one was quite difficult to get through. Very slow. But the first two were amazing.
You’re welcome. I hope you enjoy making your post!

  2. Oh great answers for this tag, Liam! 🙂 I agree that Queen Levana was a fantastic villain, I hated her, but… she was just such a good villain haha 🙂
I am happy to see The Wrath on The Dawn on here as a book that did not disappoint you, it’s one of my favorite series ❤
